UniNote is a notebook for university lectures. This page explains what it stores, where your data goes when you use each feature, how long it is kept, and how to get rid of it. It is written to be read.

What is stored

DataWhyWhere it lives
Your name, email address and profile picture from the account you sign in with (Google, Microsoft or GitHub) To sign you in and keep your notes attached to youSupabase
Your username, if you choose one Shown on anything you share; it can't be changed or reused once takenSupabase
Your classes, lectures and notes, and earlier versions of each lecture (the newest 60) They are the product; versions let you undoSupabase (Postgres)
Photos you add, and slide pictures placed in your notes They are part of your notesSupabase Storage, private to your account
Your homework and exams (title, class, due date and time, notes, done or not) The calendarSupabase
Skills you writeTo offer them back to youSupabase
Your settings: the language the AI writes inSo it follows you to every deviceSupabase
Practice exams you take: the questions, your answers, your score by lecture and topic, and the time taken To show your progress, let you retake an exam, and point Revise at weak lecturesSupabase
Teach Me lessons: the lesson written for you, which lectures it came from, how far you got, your answers to its checks, and which sections you understood To let you carry on a lesson on any device and to offer the sections to reviewSupabase
Notes made from slides, and what was read from each file, kept under a fingerprint of the file So the same file isn't processed (and paid for) twice. Kept for your account only, never shown to anyone elseSupabase
A log of each Notes-from-slides run: what was read from your file, the values computed, costs and timings To trace a wrong answer back to its cause. The content is deleted after 7 days; costs and timings staySupabase, readable only by you
Daily counts of AI usage To enforce the daily allowance fairlySupabase
Your plan: which plan, its status and renewal date, and Lemon Squeezy's reference numbers for it To unlock the paid features. Card details never reach UniNoteSupabase

Files you upload to Notes from slides, and audio recordings you transcribe, are not stored: they are processed and then discarded. Only the notes made from them are kept.

Importing notes (from Notion, Word, Google Docs, Obsidian, Markdown or PDF) happens in your browser: the files are read on your device and nothing is sent anywhere until you choose what to import. The lectures and pictures you import are then saved to your account like any other notes. The files themselves are not kept, and importing uses no AI.

There is no analytics, no advertising, no tracking pixels and no third-party cookies. Your sign-in session is kept in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in between visits. The site loads fonts from Google Fonts and some code libraries from jsDelivr and cdnjs (Cloudflare), which, like any website, see your IP address when your browser fetches them.

What happens when you use an AI feature

This is the part worth reading. The AI features send content to outside services. Each request is made by UniNote's server, so the services receive the content and the instruction but not your name, email address or account identifier. UniNote does not use anything you write to train models, and does not sell or share your notes with anyone.

When you…What is sentTo
Ask the assistant to summarize, explain, check, tidy, translate or transcribe something The text and photos inside your highlight (or the whole page, when nothing is highlighted or you use Fully Format Page), and your skill's instructions if you use one OpenRouter, which forwards it to Qwen (Alibaba Cloud) or GLM (Z.ai, served by DeepInfra or GMI Cloud). TypeSafe's Jev reads the start of the request to choose which of the two
Turn slides or a problem sheet into notes Each page's image and text. Numbers are computed by UniNote's own server, not by a model OpenRouter, which forwards it to GLM, Qwen and Google's Gemini
Transcribe an audio recording The recording (up to the length limit)OpenRouter, which forwards it to Google's Gemini
Type the name of homework or an exam in the calendar That title and the names and codes of your classes, to suggest its type and class OpenRouter, which forwards it to TypeSafe's Jev
Make a practice exam The text of the lectures you pick (to write and check the questions), then your written answers (to mark them) and your scores by topic (for the summary) OpenRouter, which forwards it to GLM (Z.ai, served by DeepInfra or GMI Cloud), Qwen (Alibaba Cloud) and TypeSafe's Jev
Start a Teach Me lesson The text of the lectures you pick (to write the lesson and check its questions), then your "explain it back" answer (to mark it) OpenRouter, which forwards it to Qwen (Alibaba Cloud) and TypeSafe's Jev
Ask a question in a Teach Me lesson Your question, the section you're on, and the notes of the lecture it came from OpenRouter, which forwards it to Qwen (Alibaba Cloud)
Ask what to revise for an exam The exam's title and notes, and the titles and the first few hundred characters of that class's lectures OpenRouter, which forwards it to TypeSafe's Jev
Share a note or a skill with the community The note or skill, to check it isn't abusive, spam or an attempt to misuse the assistant before anyone else sees it OpenRouter, which forwards it to Qwen (Alibaba Cloud) and TypeSafe's Jev

Once content reaches OpenRouter it is handled under OpenRouter's terms and those of the provider it goes to, some of which may keep requests for a limited time to prevent abuse. These services run outside the EU, including in the United States and Asia. If a page contains something you would not put in a third party's hands, don't highlight it, upload it or share it. TypeSafe's Jev only answers with a category and a probability; it never writes text. The language setting ("AI writes in") only adds one line to these requests, naming the language; working out which language your notes are in ("automatic") happens on your device.

Sharing with the community

Nothing is shared unless you share it. When you share a note publicly, its title, class name and your username appear in the community list, and students with a plan can open it. When you share it directly, only the people you name can. A shared skill shows its name and your username; students with a plan can read and add it. You can stop sharing at any time; copies other students already saved stay with them.

Who processes your data

Why it is processed

Your account, notes, calendar and the AI features you ask for are processed to provide the service you signed up for. Usage counts, logs and the community checks exist for UniNote's legitimate interest in keeping the service working, affordable and safe. Payment records are kept because tax law requires them.

How long it is kept

Your control and your rights

UniNote is operated from Latvia, so the EU General Data Protection Regulation applies. You have the right to access your personal data, correct it, export it, have it erased, restrict or object to its processing. The contact below is how to exercise any of those, and you may also complain to your national data protection authority — in Latvia, the Data State Inspectorate (Datu valsts inspekcija).

Security

Every table is locked so that an account can read and change only its own rows, photos are stored privately per account, and anything shared is checked and stored by the server rather than written by your browser.

Children

UniNote is meant for university and college students. It is not intended for children under 16, and accounts are not knowingly created for them.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what happens to your data, the date at the top changes and the change is described here.
